It was, and still is, the first of it's kind, and it's success can be attributed to the one factor that makes this show special, it is a reality show which actually shows reality. Channel 4 have long prided themselves on refusing to sugar the pill when it comes to controversy, and this combination of an experimental network and a brave production company has married seamlessly to create the ultimate dating show.

Before the show had even aired the name "undateables" was met with controversy. The idea that people with physical or mental disabilities were considered "undateable" was branded "offensive" and "horrible" by Doctors and Twitter users. [2] A spokesman for the show later claimed the title was actually a reflection of what the public thinks, not the show.

He told Wales Online: “There are girls from all over the country contacting me and I have done radio interviews in other countries as well and now I have people from everywhere sending me messages.

Executive produced by Lawrence, Sztykiel and Jeff Ingold ("Ground Floor," "Surviving Jack"), "Undateable" is inspired by the book "Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do that Guarantee They Won’t Be Dating or Having Sex" by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle. The series is produced by Doozer in association with Warner Bros. Television.
